Macron’s Majority in French Parliament at Risk in Neck-and-Neck Races

PARIS—President Emmanuel Macron was at threat of shedding his majority in the National Assembly after projections primarily based on early poll counts of the primary spherical of France’s parliamentary elections Sunday confirmed his candidates working neck and neck with leftist rivals, complicating the French chief’s efforts to press forward together with his pro-business agenda.

A projection by polling agency Harris Interactive estimated that Mr. Macron’s candidates and people of far-left firebrand Jean-Luc Mélenchon every garnered 25% of the nationwide tally. Marine Le Pen’s far-right National Rally gained 19% of the first-round vote whereas the conservative Les Républicains and its allies garnered 11.5%, in accordance with Harris Interactive.
