IN JOANNAH PICKETT’S line of labor, communication and first impressions are important. And as that work has more and more moved on-line, the affiliate vp of the division of Alumni Relations & Development at Trinity University in San Antonio and her group are sometimes making these first impressions by way of emails. When Ms. Pickett, 47, observed her colleagues sending messages with sloppy textual content—together with misspelled phrases and incorrectly used prepositions—she requested them to obtain the free model of Grammarly, a free-to-download typing and proofreading assistant.
