Walmart Tells Suppliers New Fuel and Pickup Fees Are Coming

Walmart Inc. mentioned it might cost a few of its suppliers a brand new charge to move items to its warehouses and shops, based on a memo seen by The Wall Street Journal, the most recent instance of how companies need to offset rising prices for issues akin to transportation and gasoline.

Companies that use Walmart to move items to the retailer’s warehouses and shops shall be charged a gasoline surcharge and a “collect pickup charge” beginning Aug. 1, mentioned the memo. The shift “is a result of Walmart adapting to the significant transformation and increased cost seen in the transportation industry over the past few years,” mentioned the memo despatched to suppliers final Friday.
