Insurers and employers started publicly posting the costs they pay for healthcare companies starting from physician visits to lab exams, vastly increasing a federally mandated effort to unveil the long-secret charges.

The new information is coming within the type of large, machine-readable digital information, sometimes in codecs not simply accessible to shoppers, posted totally on insurers’ web sites. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services set a deadline of July 1 for the information to be launched, with some massive insurers releasing information by the early morning hours Friday, together with Elevance Health Inc.’s Anthem, Cigna Corp. and Humana Inc., in line with Turquoise Health Co., an organization compiling the information.
