Atlantic City Casino Workers Prepare to Strike for Higher Wages



About 6,000 on line casino staff in Atlantic City, N.J., on Thursday have been poised to strike over the Fourth of July vacation weekend, as an area union and on line casino operators continued negotiating for new contracts.

Unite Here Local 54 organizers are in search of pay raises, saying that wages have fallen behind lately, and staff deserve raises now that casinos have bounced back from the pandemic. Workers at 5 of the town’s 9 casinos voted to authorize the union’s negotiating committee to name strikes starting Friday with out an settlement. The 5 casinos are MGM Resorts International Borgata; Caesars Entertainment Caesars, Harrah’s and Tropicana; and the Hard Rock.
