‘A Lot to Figure Out’: ALS Patients Weigh Travel to Canada to Get Drug for Deadly Illness



Canada accredited Amylyx Pharmaceuticals Inc.’s new drug for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis final week. Now some U.S. sufferers with the deadly neurodegenerative dysfunction—often known as Lou Gehrig’s illness—are contemplating a visit north to get the treatment, Albrioza. The drug isn’t approved in the U.S.

William Woods, a 75-year-old retired physician in Atlanta who was identified with ALS in 2019, is contacting Canadian docs who may assist him get Albrioza. “There is a lot to figure out,” he stated, “but I am confident I will find somebody I can go see.”
